Did You Know?
According to the Health and Safety Hub for the Mineral Products Industry by the Safe Quarry Mineral Products Association, isolation-related incidents rank as the number one cause in the top six fatal hazards in the mining and earthmoving industry.

Alarmingly, 22% of fatalities in the sector result from contact with moving machinery—most often linked to reactive maintenance and a failure to correctly isolate all energy sources (Safe Quarry, Mineral Products Association, 2024).

These tragic events are frequently the result of poor or inconsistent isolation practices, lack of proper verification, inadequate procedures, or failure to follow existing protocols. The consequences can be devastating, leading to serious injuries such as entrapment, crushing, amputations, pinching, lacerations, and burns and even death (Safe Quarry, Mineral Products Association, 2024. https://www.safequarry.com/Fatal-6/Fatal-6-Step-1.aspx).
